Pennisetum setaceum - Fountain grass I love this grass, I know its a weed but i just love its shape and form. However it is growing in places where we really  dont want it!

Jasminum polyanthum - Pink Jasmine also a bit of a weed but that perfume.......!!!

and finally those tiny red stars you can see in this picture are the flowers on our Weeping Japanese Maple they are so tiny and delicate but worth a picture i think!

 As for the back garden .......well you'll have to come back tomorrow to see whats in flower there!

Fruit trees and ground covers.

This was our back garden two years ago.

This is the same spot now.

"What, are they crazy !" I hear you say!!
 
Well probably. But sadly the fence along this side of the property was falling over so we had to do something about it and in the process did a bit of rearranging. 

Now we have our new fence up  and we have taken out the olive tree we have a new area of garden all ready for planting out . So I have moved 3 fruit trees across there and I can play to my hearts contect in this new garden bed!!!! I'm a bit like a kid in a toy store.

I had some Iris  bulbs waiting to go in so have planted them along the internal fence and have transplanted some rose cuttings I took when I pruned the roses. There was also some plectranthus cuttings which I have placed along the back of the garden bed behind the fruit trees. Hopefully they will grow like made and provide a lovely green ground cover. Anyway we are one step closer to getting rid of the mud !

Now all you plants ......grow!

The weather today was so beautiful, a balmy 20degrees! So i decided to move a few things around. and fill that space. When all the plants have grown a bit it will look good I think. I decided to plant some succulents I had in pots into the ground and am hoping they will survive the dogs! Hence all the stakes around the plants, these are in the hope that Bruce, our border collie won't stomp on them while they get established.

Here I have created a bit of a rust theme. The stair banister is from the our old front entrance before we had the driveway done, and goes quite nicely I think, with the rusty bits of iron which i have had lying around the garden in the front, but I think they look much better here.
So here are some of the plants I have transplanted to this new area. 

Echivera albicans which has a very pretty pink flower in the spring

Cuppressus macrocarpa which will spread about two metres or 6 feet

Ceanothus papillosus which I'm hopeing will have beautiful blue flowers all over it next year.

And last but not least the Hardenbergia violacea which is creeping over the chook shed, and is planted along the internal fence.

So this is our new garden bed. Now all i need is a couple of bales of pea straw to give it a finished look.

Pretty fountains

Beauty was never so sublime!

Its been quite some time since I wrote in my blog. I have been busy developing my landscape design business and working for clients!! Yay.

I have managed to do quite a bit and in fact had a day off last weekend to go up into the hills east of Melbourne. It was both beautiful and sad. Spring has arrived to our hills and the blossoms are out the bulb festivals are on and everything is growing. Even the forests which were so badly burnt on Black Saturday last February.

We made our way to Marysville and had lunch at the bakery there, and bought some beautiful fudge from the now open (once again) sweet shop. The town is coming together very slowly with some, i think, not returning. But the birds are back and the grass is once again green. The camellias are in bloom and there is some hope in the air, and i must say....the pies were as delicious as ever as was the beautiful fudge!

Spring is a wonderful time of year, and to add extra hope we have had some rain!!

Looking forward to Spring and Summer

I've been reading about the goings on in gardens across the US and must admit I'm getting a little bored with winter and am looking forward to the warmer weather.

While I have been pretty busy in the garden and have planted several new fruit trees and planted quite a few veggies etc, now I am impatient to see them grow and flourish. So I can reap the benefits. I have grown cauliflowers and broccolli over winter but have been sadly disappointed I did all the right things i think, i watered and fed them, weeded and tended them and have a huge crop of .......leaves. But alas no caulis, or broccollis'. My Bok choi was great .

Any thoughts or advise would be greatly appreciated.

The Ranuncullis' have stared flowering which is a definite sign that spring is on its way and the days are getting sunnier and very windy too. Our French friends have been painting away and now the house is a sunny yellow with a green trim it looks a lot cheerier than before. Its amazing the difference a fresh coat of paint makes.
