Spring Festival at the Tibetan Buddhist Peaceful Land of Joy

 

A couple of weeks ago my neighbour Viki and I went to the Spring Festival at the Tibetan Buddhist Peaceful Land of Joy, just outside Melbourne. They have a beautiful garden and Temple and they put on lunch and also had a market there too. It was a beautiful sunny Spring day and the marigolds were smiling up at the sun ! We attended a talk about  Buddhist philosophy and  a central aspect of this is the practice of great love and compassion - a source of personal peace and happiness,
a path to good relationships and understanding life’s events in this crazy world of ours.  We also attended a  prayer for world peace which was conducted by Buddhist Priests and Nuns and some other local religious leaders and members of parliament.

The gardens were beautiful and the day was perfect. The signature colours of Buddhism are crimson and gold and this is the colour of the gardens and all the paths and driveways are crimson too. There are beautiful adn include many rose gardens amongst the Golden Robinias, Californian Redwoods and newly planted native Alyognes which are now all over the property and were at their most lovely whith purple flowers contrasting beautifully against the golden calendula's. Its uplifting especially in the bright sunshine.

The people here do wonderful work for those in need such as Bush fire and Flood survivors in recent years and also hold a fornightly lunch for free in nearby Broadmeadows. Those who are not able to find themselves regular meals can enjoy a good wholesome meal at no cost and enjoy the company of others and take their time about it too. A wonderful service for the community. They accept donations too and help if you care to assist them.

A beautiful day and the meditation was and is wonderful.
