Summer is here already!

We're only half way through November and already it seems Summer has arrived. Last week we had temperatures in the mid 30's and it seems this week the weather is going to be getting warmer too.

Its going to be a hot summer!

Sad thing is i've come to the conclusion that growing leafy veggies is not going to be an option unless i do it on the verandah as the veggie patch is just getting too much sun and everything seems to just want to flower. So i may just plant tomatoes and fruiting plants rather than leafy ones.

The fruit trees are goin mad which is nice and I have just planted a fig tree up near the bananas. I am hoping it will protect them a little from the wind so they dont get quite so battered. As you can see they stand out nicely in front of the pink wall now. Anyway am off to make some soap now will let you know what the outcome is.

We have WWOOFers!!

Greetings to new readers, not so new readers and to our woofers who arrived on Sunday. WWOOF-ers are willing workers on organic farms. And we are lucky to have a delightful couple from France staying with us at the moment.

I am particularly delighted because it means a bit of extra help around the place getting the garden sorted and maybe even the house painted. Yayyyy!! The wall i was writing about in my last post is going to be pink I've decided. Because we have already painted the chook shed and a few other things green so I reckon cobalt just wouldnt go. Whereas pink will, and as you probably have gathered ...I'm a bit of a pink fan.
Ok so i've gone a bit overboard but you have to admit they do look kind of funky and refuse to go unnoticed!
I will post more pictures of my wwoofers and their handiwork as the week unfolds so stay tuned.
Also for those in the Melbourne area I have a friend in Riddells Creek opening her garden to help raise money for Cambodian kids and their families over Mothers' Day weekend. Details to be announced, so please go along for a look.

Garden Shows on the Telly

There's a great new show on the TV at the moment about Gardens around the world.
So far I've watched two of them and have come away with some real inspiration. Surprisingly the second week it was about Australian and New Zealand gardens which was a pleasant surprise. While the first week was about Gardens in Mexico and South America.

Now I want to do all sorts of things and I can hear howls of objection just thinking about it. My "thing" at the moment is about colour and texture. We have a brick wall which I want to put wire on for a grape vine but after seeing the Mexican gardens I have a real desire to paint it cobalt or magenta! Luckily its way up the back of the garden behind the garage, but i do think the grape vine and banana trees would look wonderful against a cobalt wall!

Something like this.....I wish Anyway I suppose my point is that green against an bright colourful backdrop is simply divine. Here is a pic of the wall now. Give me a couple of months and i'll take another pic. What do you think cobalt or pink!

Let me know I love feedback!!!
